Trauma Informed Therapy

At ThrivePath, we provide in-person trauma-informed therapy in Adelaide and online across Australia for adults and children whose emotional regulation, relationships, and sense of self have been shaped by trauma and adverse experiences across their lives.

We support people who often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted by the effort of getting through each day. Even when life appears “okay” on the outside, there can be an ongoing sense of holding everything together, managing strong emotions, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer feel helpful or sustainable

You may be experiencing intense emotions, ongoing anxiety, anger, shutdown, low motivation, or difficulties in your relationships. These experiences can feel confusing, frustrating, and isolating, particularly when you are trying hard to cope, function, or support others around you.

These responses are not signs of weakness or failure. They are often understandable adaptations to past trauma or adverse experiences, where safety, connection, predictability, or emotional support were disrupted. These experiences can affect how the nervous system responds to stress, how emotions are regulated, and how safe it feels to trust yourself or others.

Over time, this may show up as overthinking, physical tension, emotional numbness, chronic stress, or feeling disconnected from meaning or purpose in life.

How We Work

We support adults and children who have experienced trauma across the lifespan, as well as those impacted by difficult life experiences, including attachment and relational trauma, migration-related and systemic stressors, and experiences of conflict, aggression, or war.

Trauma-informed therapy goes beyond symptom management. Alongside practical strategies to help you cope with daily stress and emotional overwhelm, we also gently and safely process experiences that continue to impact your present life, wellbeing, and relationships.

Our approach is relational, compassionate, and evidence based. The therapeutic relationship itself is central to the work. We aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported at your own pace, without pressure to share more than feels safe.

Using trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR, therapy does not require you to relive or describe every detail of what happened.

Moving Towards Healing

Over time, therapy can support you to respond more calmly, feel more connected in relationships, reduce guilt and self-criticism, and develop a stronger sense of emotional balance and self-worth.

We believe deeply in people’s capacity to heal. Whether your experiences involve trauma or adversity, we work together to create a life that feels safer, more manageable, and aligned with who you want to be — now and into the future.

Trauma-informed therapy for children and adults, supporting you to heal and build safer and healthier relationships.
